Heath said she appreciated a district letter sent in February 2025 but asked whether the district could use stronger, simpler language, provide translations into community languages, make students aware of protections and ensure administrators are trained and clear about protocols for interacting with families. “We were so pleased to see that a letter did go out to all of our families,” Heath said, and then asked whether it was time to revisit and revamp district materials and outreach.
Dr. Scriven (district administrator) said the district has protocols (rather than a formal policy) and invited the group to submit specific recommendations in writing; he offered to schedule a meeting with staff to review any proposed changes and clarifications. Dr. Scriven asked the group to direct written recommendations to him and to copy the district secretary to schedule a follow‑up meeting.
The committee signaled willingness to work with the group and triage any requested changes between updating existing guidance and creating new materials. No formal policy action was taken at this meeting; staff proposed a follow‑up meeting to discuss recommendations.
