Marquette County staff told the Planning and Zoning Committee they signed a contract with Place Foundry to update the county’s comprehensive plan.
Staff explained they reached out to six firms across the region and received two proposals; Place Foundry’s all-inclusive bid came in at $29,700, under the $30,000 budget. The firm was recommended by a reference (Allison Burnett) and staff pointed to cost savings from reusing existing county strategic-plan data. Ron (staff) said the consultant will complete the work in about eight to nine months and the scope includes several site visits and public engagement at town meetings.
Jean said the update is intended to be a user-friendly 10-year document that meets state statutory requirements and farmland preservation program conditions, with a focus on updated maps, targeted engagement and statutory compliance. Staff emphasized the goal of a succinct, accessible product rather than a long technical manual.
The contract is posted to the county SharePoint folder for review; staff indicated they will report the contract status under their departmental update at the county board if members wish further review.
