West Palm Beach CRA recognizes Dr. Alicia Wynne for 10 years of community-focused service

The West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency on Monday presented a plaque recognizing Dr. Alicia Wynne for 10 years of service to the agency and local projects.
A CRA staff member described Wynne as a "trusted adviser" who has helped keep the agency's work focused on residents of the historic Northwest and highlighted her involvement with projects such as Heart and Soul Park and the Sunset Lounge. The staff speaker said Wynne’s work has been integral to building cultural elements into CRA projects.
Dr. Wynne, who identified herself during the recognition as an "applied culture anthropologist" and a resident, said she was honored and noted that June would mark the formal 10-year anniversary of her association with the CRA. "I got on board...I'm so grateful to serve in a space that mostly anthropologists never serve in," she said, thanking the mayor, commissioners and her family.
Commissioners praised Wynne's perspective and encouraged the CRA to continue incorporating anthropological and resident-driven viewpoints into planning. Commissioner Ward said Wynne's background brings important perspective to how the agency plans spaces and communities.
The recognition was presented as the final CRA agenda item before the body adjourned and reconvened as the City Commission at 5:00 p.m.
