STRATEGIC PLAN PROGRESS Superintendent Carrie gave the board an update on strategic-plan work across curriculum, inclusion, climate and facilities. She said inclusion for students with disabilities rose to 64 percent of students spending 80 percent or more of their time with typically developing peers, a marked improvement from earlier years.
Climate surveys and staffing Carrie described a newly formed data team that has cleaned and aligned the district's climate survey spreadsheets for families, staff and students. She said family and staff measures show positive trends in perceptions of safety, teacher care and staff retention; student measures show modest gains. Carrie linked improved staff survey results with a reduced turnover rate.
Attendance and postsecondary outcomes The superintendent reported improvements in chronic absenteeism compared with state averages and noted that 75 percent of the class of 2025 enrolled in postsecondary programs (state average 60 percent).
Capital and facilities work Carrie summarized facility planning: district-wide roof inspections (GME) produced a two-year maintenance plan; the architect RFQ selected CHA for field assessments and Novo Studios for interior work; the district applied to the school revolving renovation fund for a high-school roof and TMS ventilation but was not funded this cycle (the TMS project missed funding by half a point). The district plans further evaluations and repeated applications next year.
Next steps Carrie said the data team will continue survey work and present key findings as they become available; district leaders will integrate strategic-plan results into the initial budget proposal due Feb. 26 and pursue additional capital funding opportunities.
