Board hears long-range facilities update; Fund 41 projects, roofs and foundation repairs highlighted

The New Berlin School District Board heard an update on its long-range facilities plan, which administration said focuses on capital maintenance projects funded through Fund 41 and supplemented by the operating fund (Fund 10) and, in some cases, Fund 50 (food service).
Administration described Fund 41 as a levy-funded account restricted to capital facility improvements and said the board's Fund 41 initiative (adopted in 2022) has supported 29 completed projects and more than $10,000,000 in work to date. Officials also noted the district continues to carry debt-service obligations in the operating budget.
The presentation identified high-priority projects including multiple roof repairs/replacements and large asphalt projects, and singled out foundation work, caulking and tuck-pointing at older Poplar Creek. Administration said such projects are costly yet essential and that piecemeal repairs will no longer suffice for end-of-life roof sections.
During Q&A, a board member asked about FY26 totals. Administration said "at least 1,200,000.0 in Fund 41, Patrick," and a board member estimated roughly $500,000 in the general fund, with an anticipated combined amount spoken as "in the neighborhood of $1.51700000.0." Administrators offered follow-up availability and asked board members to contact Patrick or the presenter with questions.
The board was also told Fund 50 can be used for necessary capital adjustments; staff cited using it to add a kitchen backup generator at Eisenhower.
