Library staff outline winter events, teen programs and January reading challenge

The Colony Public Library briefed council on December and January programs including a noon New Year's countdown, teen crafts, a 'Crafty Cinema Club' and a citywide winter reading challenge running Jan. 2–31.
Library staff presented the library’s calendar of upcoming events and seasonal programming to the council during the community-interest portion of the meeting.
'Miss Charters' described early literacy programming, a preschool 'Little Builders' session Dec. 19 at 10:15, a family New Year’s noon countdown with crafts and snacks (Dec. 30, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), a teen shaving-cream tote-dyeing event Dec. 18 at 6 p.m., and a Crafty Cinema Club screening of the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. She also announced a January 2–31 winter reading challenge open to all ages with small prizes for meeting a self-set reading goal on 10 consecutive days.
The presentation was informational; council thanked the library staff and proceeded with the agenda.
