On item 4.7, staff explained the council was being asked to authorize the city manager to award a purchase to PVS Technologies for ferric chloride at an amount of $145,200. A staff speaker described the chemical’s function: “The ferric chloride specifically treats phosphorus, and that is a TCEQ regulated contaminant,” and added it can help reduce hydrogen sulfide odors as an ancillary benefit. Council member Miss Denswyer moved to approve the purchase; Mister Wade seconded; the council approved the item.
Both items were handled as pulled consent items but passed after brief staff explanations and council questions about contract duration and annual usage. The meeting then proceeded to the regular agenda.
