Interim CEO reports terminated compensation study, launches brief HR transformation sprint and strengthens Meharry partnership

Elders said the hospital terminated the contract with the firm doing a compensation study after missed deadlines and an unsatisfactory deliverable. She said the hospital remains committed to a thorough study to ensure employees are fairly compensated and that leadership will seek appropriate procurement and vendor options, including conversations with Metro procurement.
Elders announced a short HR transformation sprint with Deloitte (engaged through Metro procurement) to address process gaps and align HR practices with industry standards; that work is scheduled to complete by Dec. 1. She also said the hospital will provide longevity pay this year to eligible full-time employees and continue work to rebuild workforce trust in HR processes.
Elders described progress on the Crossland audit, ongoing work with Meharry Medical College (marketing, clinical research and facility assessments), and new program partnerships (Tennessee diaper program; Metro cold-weather shelter collaboration). She asked for board support on infrastructure improvements and long-term planning for the hospital’s future.
Board members asked about Metro procurement options and whether Metro might underwrite the compensation study; Elders said payment responsibility remains with the hospital but that Metro procurement would be consulted on vendor selection.
Elders closed by reminding the board of the next meeting date (Nov. 20) and that December is canceled.
