Council approves Janae Ayers as city council chief of staff

Pontiac’s City Council approved the appointment of Janae Ayers as chief of staff to the City Council. Director Durackovich introduced Ayers, citing more than two decades of public service and leadership experience, including service on the Detroit City Council from 2015 to 2021.
Ayers addressed the council and thanked members for the opportunity; she said she intends to meet with each council member and department head to align goals and reduce departmental silos. Council members welcomed her experience, noting her municipal budgeting background and prior executive roles. The resolution passed by roll call (7 yeas, no nays). The administration indicated Ayers’ first day would be the following morning at 9 a.m., pending onboarding.
