Pontiac’s City Council approved a resolution to enter an open‑end lease with Enterprise Fleet Management to supply vehicles for building inspectors and related field work. Mayor McGinnis and Director McIntyre explained the lease will add four vehicles to rotate among five inspectors and reduce liability from staff using personal cars.
The mayor said the city already has a mix of fleet vehicles in code enforcement (nine Chevrolet Equinoxes and other specialty vehicles) and several aged vehicles that are costly to maintain. The Enterprise program includes trade‑in allowances for old vehicles, which administration said would be credited toward monthly lease costs. Council asked for an inventory and clarification of vehicle assignments; administration agreed to provide a roster and to review whether any department heads hold assigned vehicles.
The resolution passed by roll call (7 ayes). Council noted the approach continues an existing fleet management practice used by prior councils.
