City extends storm-related permit-fee waiver through June 30 as state of emergency remains

City Administrator Gers updated the council on the city's state of emergency and explained the administration plans to maintain a limited declaration primarily to preserve a waiver of permit fees for storm repairs.
"We have extended that waiver of permit fees until June 30," Gers said, adding that the administration removed broad emergency procurement authority from the declaration to respect the council's appropriation powers. Gers said other provisions were curtailed and that code-enforcement flexibility for domestic equipment or temporary trailers would be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Council members asked about specific situations such as damaged boat lifts and other items left in yards; Gers and staff said such matters would be handled individually and invited council members to provide addresses for staff follow-up.
The council approved the report and moved on to other agenda items. Council Member Harding also presented a Flood Awareness Week proclamation and thanked floodplain manager Hannah Rebholz for her team's work on recovery and outreach after recent storms.
