Resident urges board to consider opposing HGAC proposal to widen Grogan's Mill Road

"With aggressive transportation projects and widening and doubling of most of major streets in The Woodlands, the character of The Woodlands is being irreversibly destroyed," the commenter said, asking the board to add the topic to a future meeting and to help convey comment opportunities to residents.
The resident cited a Community Impact article and provided a timeline of HGAC’s public phases (fall 2025 public phase 2, spring 2026 phase 3 call for projects, fall 2026 approval). A director responded that staff will put the request on a future agenda and that the board can discuss possible next steps, including requesting a representative from Precinct 3 or the commissioner's office to attend.
Why it matters: road-widening projects can involve right-of-way changes, tree removal and long-term traffic pattern changes that residents say would affect community character. The board did not take a formal opposition vote at the Sept. 25 meeting; it agreed to place the matter on a future agenda for fuller discussion.
