John McGowan, the township director of Parks and Recreation, presented the proposed operating schedule for 2026 for recreation centers, the TreeVentures facility and the township boathouses, telling the board there were "really no changes" to hours and that the department’s cost recovery is at or near 100% (it was 104% in 2024).
McGowan explained one explicit fee change being formalized in the recommended amendment: an event‑center rental fee of $5,000 per day for the facility that hosts the township’s ice‑skating rink and is shared with the Cynthia Woods Pavilion. He said the rest of the schedule retains routine holiday adjustments but otherwise stays the same.
The chair called for a motion to schedule a public hearing to adopt an amendment to Township Order 020‑09 (park user fees). A director moved to approve, a second was recorded, and one director requested the hearing be moved from Nov. 20 to Nov. 19. The motion was amended accordingly and carried. The board will hold a public hearing on Nov. 19 to consider adoption of the amendment to Township Order 020‑09.
The board did not take final action to adopt fees at this meeting; the Nov. 19 public hearing will be the next formal opportunity for public comment and a final vote.
