Orange Village’s council approved motions to purchase two replacement vehicles and to surplus an aging LED message board.
The council voted to approve purchase of a 2026 Dodge Ram (cab and chassis) from Montrose CJDR not to exceed $40,965. Administration said the purchase replaces a 2016 flatbed; the village will reinstall an existing aluminum flatbed to save roughly $10,000 and budgeted a roughly $9,500 snowplow to be added later. Administration estimated a 3–6 month lead time for chassis delivery.
Separately, the council approved buying a 2026 Ford Interceptor 3.3-liter from Montrose Ford not to exceed $47,119 under the Ohio Cooperative Purchasing Program. Administration said the Dodge Durango will be repurposed to the building department and a 2017 Dodge Charger (a repurposed police vehicle) will be disposed of once replacements arrive.
Council also approved a motion to declare the existing Tron Galaxy LED message center (model AFDash3500/3350) surplus and authorized disposal at the mayor’s discretion. Administration said the old sign is about 10 years old, has limited resale market value and will likely be listed for parts or sold via GovDeals.
All purchase motions and the surplus declaration passed on roll call. Council members and residents during discussion praised the road and plow crews for winter work. Administration and council did not identify specific vendors or contractors beyond the dealer names cited in the bids; financing or exact replacement timing will follow standard procurement and delivery schedules.
The council did not vote on additional capital appropriations at the meeting; staff indicated follow-up reporting and coordination with departments would occur after deliveries are scheduled.
