The Oklahoma City Economic Development Trust on Jan. 27 approved a 5% film rebate of $228,209 to Tulsa‑based Rebellion Films for its production Project Summer, which is scheduled to film in Oklahoma City from April 6 through May 1.
City staff reported that 100% of filming days will occur inside Oklahoma City, that 99% of the production crew are local residents, and that the production’s qualified local expenditures are roughly $4.8 million. Using the city’s economic modeling, staff estimated a local economic impact of about $11.4 million and said the project would support approximately 700 direct and indirect jobs.
Staff recommended the rebate based on the department’s qualification thresholds (local spend, local crew share and local vendor usage); trustees approved the recommendation by voice vote.
The rebate will be processed under the city’s existing film incentive policies and the Trust’s approval authorizes staff to move forward with finalizing the rebate amount and paperwork.
