Hatboro-Horsham board accepts several retirements and principal resignation

The Hatboro-Horsham School Board on Jan. 27 approved human-resources items that included multiple retirements and the resignation of the high school principal.
Miss Welsh presented HR action items listing Dennis Williams' resignation after 22 years with the district and named other departures: Karen Cantor, Simmons Elementary principal, retiring after 23 years; Colleen Scholl, job coach at Hatboro-Horsham High School, retiring after 27 years; and Frank Sykes, transportation bus driver, retiring after 15 years.
Board members publicly thanked the departing staff. A board speaker noted that Dr. Williams was recently appointed Director of Secondary Education by the North Penn School District and acknowledged his "more than 21 years" of service as a Hatboro-Horsham High School employee and more than 20 years as principal. The board offered applause and best wishes as part of its remarks.
The HR motion to approve the listed action items and revised athletic game-day compensation was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
No substantive operational details or successor appointments were announced at the meeting; the administration listed the HR items for the board's routine approval and said retirements will be celebrated and followed by any necessary staffing actions.
