PS 303 was praised for daytime parking and technology resources but noted to have a narrower stage and some tech issues on a prior event.
"Parking is very limited at PS 175," a member said during deliberations, noting elevator reliability and ventilation concerns in that building. Other members argued PS 48 better meets accessibility needs for families and people who use mobility devices.
After discussion, the council tallied preferences and agreed to submit PS 48 as its top choice and MS 217 as the backup to the NYC DOE for consideration. Members emphasized that a walkthrough by the council’s tech and logistics leads will occur before final confirmation.
Next steps: The CEC will submit the two ranked site recommendations to the borough office and schedule a site walk-through with school staff and the council’s technology contact. The council also said it will document safety and accessibility concerns raised about other candidate sites and continue to push for improvements in those buildings.
