Economic development policy contract: Council approved a $2,500 contract with consultant Cody Dieter to prepare a written economic development policy tailored to Hooper City. The scope, presented in the council packet, includes a fixed fee of $2,500 and aims to identify priority areas and possible incentives to guide future commercial development. Council member Craig moved to approve the contract; Council member Hancock seconded. With no further discussion the motion carried.
JustServe proclamation: The council approved a proclamation designating Hooper a JustServe partner to support volunteerism; Council member Hancock moved and Council member Rapalado seconded the motion. The proclamation passed by voice vote; Council member Fowers was previously designated as the council’s JustServe representative.
Sidewalk waiver: The council granted a staff-recommended sidewalk waiver for a subdivision affecting Jesse Lane and 6450 West, where staff recommended requiring sidewalks on the south side and both sides of 6450 West but waiving the north-side sidewalk on Jesse Lane based on the plat and stub alignment with future development. Council member Craig moved to approve the waiver; Council member Fowers seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
Closed-door meeting: At the end of the public session, the council voted to move into a closed-door meeting to consider matters appropriate for closed session.
