In a program management update, Speaker 2 said, "So far to 2026, we have initiated 18 projects to date," and summarized how recent concerns have been handled: "80 of those concerns resulted in a project of some sort," with 23 concerns moved to stormwater projects (drain repairs, sinkhole repair, detention-basin work), 17 nuisance wildlife projects (beaver-related), two items linked to an ongoing drainage study in High Metal Special Subdivision, and 38 concerns tied to the Porter County Highway Department for right-of-way cleaning or vendor-related right-of-way issues. Speaker 2 credited Gloria Larson as the project manager who "manages our drainage concern portal."
Asked about the top priority, Speaker 2 said the Rolling Head subdivision storm sewer reconstruction (detention basin on Angelica Court and work along Garrett Drive) is the highest-priority capital project and is in design; the staff hopes to advertise the bid in March and move to construction later this year. On the remaining ARPA-funded work, Speaker 2 said, "All of those would be completed, I would say, by May 31."
