Students report bathroom odors and limited band-room space; Chromebook YouTube links blocked for privacy reasons

A high-school student described persistent foul smells in certain bathrooms and hallways that at times caused nausea. Facilities staff and Mr. Schramm (facilities) reported finding a cracked pipe; a temporary fix was put in place and a specialist was scheduled to complete repairs over the coming weekend.
Separately, a member of the school community urged the board to consider the band room's size in the next capital project, saying a growing program makes the current room difficult to navigate safely. Board members said a growing band is a positive challenge and suggested including the space in future capital planning.
Students also asked why YouTube links embedded in Google Classroom are blocked on district Chromebooks. District staff explained that New York State Education Law 2-d requires certain third-party vendors to sign data-privacy agreements before services that can collect personally identifiable information are allowed; many classroom resources are whitelisted, and teachers can request temporary whitelist access for specific lessons.
A student additionally reported that some midterm items felt misaligned with class instruction; board members asked for longitudinal assessment data and planned a fuller discussion at the Curriculum, Needs and Instruction (CNI) committee meeting.
What’s next: facilities will complete repairs and report back; the CNI committee will review test data and district staff will provide options for addressing assessment alignment and classroom access to vetted online resources.
