Planning staff (Josh) requested authorization to fill a new planning‑technician position to support customer service, prioritize projects for planning professionals, and serve as backup for inspection scheduling and permits. He described the position’s duties and provided a pay range in the personnel packet. Commissioner Patton moved to approve the position request and the board approved it.
Dr. Ashley Oliphant, an animal‑welfare advocate and longtime advisory‑board chair, used public comment to praise recent shelter reforms and asked the board to consider the shelter director for county employee recognition; the county manager noted a pre‑bid for the Animal Services Building is scheduled Feb. 19 (weather permitting).
