Staff said the work would be paid from the capital projects fund (reserves) and emphasized that the project would not draw funds away from other active projects. Councilmembers debated whether to seek less‑custom (and lower cost) furniture; some members urged investing in longer‑lasting custom pieces, while others urged savings. Several members noted the work would reduce longer‑term maintenance costs and improve public broadcast and accessibility.
Councilmember Price moved to adopt the resolution amending the FY26 budget to fund the project from reserves, the motion was seconded and the council approved it by unanimous roll call.
Staff will proceed with procurement and returning to council as needed for contract awards and any adjustments.
