Lake Havasu City on Tuesday approved a partnership with the Military Moms Organization to display military tribute banners at Wheeler Park.
Staff said the program will move existing banners from the mall to Wheeler Park for greater visibility and that banners will remain up during each service member’s time in uniform, then be retired to the family. Cindy Ritter of the Military Moms Organization described the group’s 12 years of local work supporting veterans and military families and requested the council’s backing for improved banner placement and visibility.
Council member David Diaz asked how verification and the application process would work; Anthony Kozlowski said an application will be posted on the city website and the Military Moms will help confirm service status while parks staff will install the poles. The council also discussed capacity and placement; staff estimated room for about 25 banners initially.
Council member Diaz moved to approve the partnership agreement; Council member Campbell seconded and the motion carried 6‑0.
The city clerk will post application details online and staff said the city will handle installation and retirement logistics once a banner is removed from active service.
