Facilities and operations staff outlined several capital and operational projects and reported grant activity.
Planned purchases include 28 Samsung flat‑panel displays to replace aging projectors, upgrades to wireless access points (some dated to 2018), Chromebook orders for incoming students, and delivery delays being managed for a mobile heating cart for the cafeteria. Staff said two drinking fountains on the baseball field will be replaced with auto‑refill stations, pool bulkhead panels need replacement, and electrical and plumbing work is underway with estimates pending.
On grants and sustainability, staff reported the LADWP emissions‑reduction grant (approximately $491,000) was approved by LADWP’s board and the district is awaiting signed documentation before beginning equipment replacement (mowers, blowers and other grounds equipment). The district also noted receipt of a School Violence Prevention grant (funding pending) and submission of a kitchen infrastructure grant application. Staff said the second interim budget update will be presented next month with assumptions adjusted after the governor’s revision.
Board members asked for follow‑up on costs and timelines for pool and bulkhead repairs and for clarity about the timing of larger invoices in the second semester.
