Election committee approves contractor job description and budget to send to council

The Election Committee of Martin's Additions voted unanimously to approve a revised position description and draft budget for a voter‑verification contractor and to forward the materials to the Village Council for the November packet. The committee chair summarized that the December meeting will finalize election regulations and that the contractor is intended to help with time‑consuming voter‑roll verification tasks.

Committee members cited experience from the previous contractor when discussing budget assumptions. The draft reflects that previous contractors charged roughly $70 per hour in 2024 and that the work the committee previously performed (40 hours for two volunteers) can be time consuming; the chair noted the draft is not a fixed‑rate contract and the village would not be locked into a fixed number of hours. The committee discussed logistics the contractor would handle, such as outreach calls, email follow‑ups and maintaining a documented call log.

A motion to approve the position description and budget was moved and seconded and carried by unanimous voice vote. The committee also asked staff to explore whether the prior contractor, Julian Lampier, might be available to provide services again on a smaller scale.

The committee assigned staff to finalize the PD and prepare the brief November report to the council; the full recommendations on the election regulations will be completed at the December meeting. The next procedural step is the council’s review of the packet at its November meeting.
