A rezoning request (TCZA25-07) by property owner Glenda Seifer was presented at the Tift County workshop. County staff said the 3-acre tract (parcel ID 0064008) is currently split between AG (agricultural) and R-1 (single-family residential) zoning and that Seifer wants the entire parcel zoned AG so she can place a manufactured home on the property.
An unidentified staff member described the parcel and said the request was heard by the planning commission on Jan. 8, which "voted unanimously to recommend approval." The staff member said the owner intends to place a manufactured home near the middle of the property and wished to avoid having any portion of the home fall within the R-1 zone, which the staff member said does not allow manufactured homes.
A resident who attended the planning commission hearing spoke in opposition, telling the commission he did not want manufactured homes nearby; staff noted that the opposing resident himself lives in a manufactured home two parcels away. No final action was taken at the workshop; the rezoning application will be on the regular meeting agenda for formal consideration.
What happens next: The board will consider TCZA25-07 during its regular session, where members may vote for approval, denial, or continue the matter for more information.
