Commission proclaims Career and Technical Education month and recognizes student leaders

Houston County commissioners read and approved a proclamation recognizing Career and Technical Education (CTE) month and used the occasion to welcome CTE teachers and student leaders.
Dr. Chris Kennedy of the Houston County Career and Technical Education Center and Ryan Richards, a career and technical education administrator with Dothan City Schools, were introduced to the commission and addressed the chamber. The proclamation highlighted CTE's role in providing hands-on learning, apprenticeships and pathways to post-secondary credentials.
Students from several schools and Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) including FFA, DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, HOSA, SkillsUSA and TV production introduced themselves by name, grade and program. Commissioners invited the students forward for photos and thanked teachers and advisors for their work preparing students for competitions and leadership roles.
The proclamation passed on a voice vote; commissioners emphasized CTE's importance for workforce readiness and community partnerships.
