The Rutherford County Regional Planning Commission elected Pettis Reid as chair and Charlotte Peay as vice chair during its Feb. 9, 2026 meeting. The nominating committee reported unanimous support for the two nominees, and commissioners approved the slate by voice vote.
The commission’s outgoing vice chair briefly reflected on years of service and the training required of planning commissioners, thanking fellow members for the opportunity to serve. The chair then introduced new member Shannon Hicks, a local builder who said he has worked in Rutherford County for about 30 years and intends to be fair to the community.
The election was procedural and requires no additional county action. The commission moved on to its scheduled agenda items after completing the vote.
