Wheat Ridge approves homeless navigator IGA, a $423,775 budget supplement and support for state energy grant

At its Feb. 9 meeting, the Wheat Ridge City Council approved the consent agenda items 1a–1c by unanimous vote. Item 1a is an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Edgewater to continue regional homeless navigator services after Golden left the prior IGA arrangement. Item 1b amends the FY2025 general fund budget to record a supplemental appropriation of $423,775 to implement automated vehicle identification services; the supplemental is offset by $499,586 in revenue for auditing and reporting purposes. Item 1c is a resolution of support required to apply for the Colorado Energy Office Local Impact Accelerator Grant, which would fund a zoning code audit, housing‑supportive code amendments and incentives for accessory dwelling units and affordable housing initiatives.
Councilor Jenny Snell moved approval and Councilor Okada seconded; the package passed 8‑0. Council noted the need for interjurisdictional coordination on homelessness and the opportunity the energy grant provides to advance housing and zoning work.
