The Wheat Ridge City Council appointed Janice Hoppe Feb. 9 to fill the city clerk vacancy for the remainder of the term ending Nov. 8, 2027. Councilor Carter moved to appoint Hoppe; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously, 8‑0. The vacancy resulted from the passing of former City Clerk Kirkpatrick in February 2025 and a later ballot initiative to move those offices to appointment failed, so the council filled the remainder of the term under Wheat Ridge City Charter §3.11(c).
Mayor administered the oath of office to Janice Hoppe at the dais, and several councilors offered brief remarks thanking Hoppe for stepping into the role. Mayor and council congratulated Hoppe and welcomed her to the city clerk position.
