At the Feb. 9 board meeting Camdenton R‑III trustees conducted the first reading of the last group of MSBA policy updates from the recent legislative session, focused on instructional materials, library media and related administrative procedures.
Speaker 2 outlined several revisions: Policy IIA (instructional materials) was updated for the digital era to require review for confidentiality and student privacy; Policy IIAC (library media) was revised to require collaborative vetting by curriculum staff and technology leaders and to include an administrative procedure for parents or students to request reconsideration of materials. District staff recommended redacting IIAC regulation 1 and incorporating its content into administrative procedures to avoid redundancy.
Staff also reviewed KBAP 1 (public information) changes requiring district electronic communications and the website to meet ADA accessibility standards by April 26; communications staff were asked to lead the compliance effort. The agenda flagged the "stop‑the‑bleed" awareness campaign and required kits, and staff said kits are located by AEDs at some buildings and must be replenished or placed districtwide by the end of the school year. The updated procedures will also include new blood‑testing protocols added in recent legislation and district staff are drafting those protocols with relevant stakeholders.
This item was presented as a first read; staff said they plan to bring these revisions back for board approval at the March 2 meeting.
