Stonecrest council defers 2022 audit presentation after auditors decline tonight’s attendance

City Council members voted Feb. 9 to defer the presentation of the City of Stonecrest’s 2022 annual audit after Tab and Tab LLC notified staff by email that they would not attend the work session.
The city clerk read an email saying Tab and Tab had received edits from the mayor and would present the 2022 audit at the March council meeting. Councilman George Turner moved to move the Tab and Tab audit to the next council meeting; Councilwoman Alicia Washington seconded the motion. The council approved the deferral by unanimous voice vote.
Council members said the deferral gives them time to review the auditors’ contract and confirm the auditors’ ability to attend the rescheduled presentation. Deputy presiding official said the city will follow up with auditors to confirm availability and asked that any directives be communicated in writing.
Next steps: The audit will be placed on the next regular council meeting agenda for presentation; council requested confirmation of Tab and Tab’s attendance and a review of the contract terms prior to that meeting.
