City staff explained that state and local code require council confirmation of any city-manager-declared local emergency within 45 days. For the Jan. 20–26 snow event, staff said confirming the declaration allows enforcement of snow-emergency routes and preserves the city’s eligibility for federal assistance if a presidential declaration were to follow.
Council adopted resolution TR26-09 by unanimous roll-call vote, 7–0. Staff noted that a presidential declaration is not anticipated for the event but explained that the local declaration is a standard required step under code.
The resolution will be recorded as the official confirmation of the local emergency declaration for the January snow event.
