Philomath council adopts updated permit fees and confirms several appointments

The Philomath City Council on Monday adopted a set of updated building permit inspection fees and confirmed a string of appointments and a proclamation.
Councilors voted to approve Resolution 26-03, which adopts revised building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and structural permit inspection fees effective Feb. 10. Mayor McWarren announced the motion passed by voice vote and said, "Resolution 26 0 3 is passed unanimously." The council adopted the schedule after staff and Benton County representatives described the changes as aligning with Benton County's model fee schedule and state guidance.
In related formal actions, the council confirmed Finance Director Mike as the city’s budget officer for fiscal 2026–27, a designation the city makes to satisfy state law requiring an official responsible for preparing and filing the budget. Councilor Nielsen moved the appointment and the council confirmed it without objection.
The council also approved advisory-board and committee appointments: Jacob Atkins and Steve Olsen were confirmed to the park advisory board; Jen Amador and Amanda Pauley were appointed to one-year terms on the Inclusivity Ad Hoc Committee (terms expiring 12/31/2026); and Valerie Kam and Jane Sherwood were appointed to two-year terms on that committee (terms expiring 12/31/2027). Mayor McWarren presented the mayoral appointments and the council confirmed them by voice vote.
Finally, councilors amended and adopted Resolution 26-04 proclaiming February as Black History Month in the City of Philomath. Councilor Irwin read the proclamation, which traces state and local historical exclusions and calls on the community to learn about Black history in Oregon and Philomath.
What happens next: The permit-fee schedule becomes effective Feb. 10; the newly appointed budget officer and board/committee members assume their specified duties and terms. No further votes were recorded on these items during the meeting.
