Chair Song explained that state law requires the student member of the State Board of Education be nominated by the Nevada Association of Student Councils in consultation with the Nevada Youth Legislature. The NASC’s nomination process is expected to occur at the NASC state conference in Carson City in April 2026. The chair asked for a volunteer, and Barzoni was nominated and confirmed without opposition.
No substantive debate accompanied the appointment. The motion to appoint was moved and seconded on the record and carried unanimously. The appointment authorizes Barzoni to participate in NASC discussions either in person or remotely and to represent the Nevada Youth Legislature’s input to the nomination process.
