King William County supervisors elect Brett Bohannon chair, approve 2026 calendar and holidays

The King William County Board of Supervisors elected Brett Bohannon chair and approved several organizational items at its Dec. 1 organizational meeting.
An unidentified supervisor nominated Brett Bohannon for chair, a motion to close nominations carried, and the board recorded a 5–0 vote in favor. "I'll nominate Brett Bohannon for chair," the supervisor said, and later the presiding official stated, "Let the record reflect 5 votes." Brett Bohannon then assumed the gavel and presided for the remainder of the meeting.
The board also took nominations for vice chair; the nomination spoken during the meeting was for "Wednesday May." A roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes and the nominated vice chair was approved.
On administrative business, supervisors reviewed and approved the 2026 meeting calendar after a motion to remove meetings scheduled for Nov. 23 and Dec. 20 as presented. The board adopted the county holiday schedule for 2026 and discussed that King William has traditionally followed the state holiday calendar for coordination with constitutional offices.
The board briefed members and the public on the budget schedule and announced a budget work session scheduled for one week from the meeting at 1:00 p.m. to review outside agency funding requests; invited agencies were noted to be present for that session.
The meeting concluded with closing remarks, confirmation of the next regular meeting on Jan. 12, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., and a motion to adjourn.
