Staff said choosing an approach requiring local procurement and additional bidding could add roughly 60 days (10-12 weeks) to the timeline and might affect the opening date. Trustees recommended Option 2 as a compromise between cost and readiness.
The board voted to approve Option 2 and then moved to appropriate the county—s state library aid ($173,516) to the project account. Roll calls recorded approval for both motions. Staff said any leftover state aid could be used for other library needs and that staff would proceed with procurement consistent with the approved option and the state-aid constraints.
