Sheriff’s Office honored for reaccreditation; board, sheriff credit staff

"It appeared to be in top condition and clean inside and out," he said, adding assessors found proper equipment, chain-of-custody documentation and well‑trained personnel.
Sheriff Lumpkin accepted the recognition and highlighted his staff. He thanked Kevin Simmons, Katie Smith, Debbie and Kayla Anthony and other team members, saying they "worked very hard" to maintain standards that earned the office reaccreditation.
Board members praised the accomplishment as evidence of professionalism and a selling point for recruitment and public trust. The presentation included a brief photo opportunity and remarks that the accreditation demonstrates the county’s commitment to public safety.
The board did not take additional action on the accreditation beyond the recognition and remarks. Next procedural steps or any formal documentation were not specified at the meeting.
