Board approves REC easement, certifies closed session and appoints William Bailey to BZA

At its Aug. 11 meeting the King William County Board of Supervisors approved several formal actions: a utility easement with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC), certification of a closed session and an appointment to a county board.
Easement: The board moved to authorize the execution of a utility easement with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative to provide electric service and maintenance access for the county's new water tower and related connections on the Clements property. The motion included authority for the county administrator to execute the documents. A roll-call vote recorded ayes from Supervisors Edwards, Robinson, Bancroft, Hodges and Chair Catlett and the motion carried.
Closed session certification: The board entered closed session under Virginia Code provisions to receive legal advice regarding zoning policy and potential disposition of public property and to discuss an appointment. After the closed session the board certified by roll call that only the matters for which the closed session was authorized were discussed.
Appointment: Following the closed session the board moved and seconded to appoint William Bailey of the 3rd District to the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA). A roll-call vote recorded ayes and the appointment carried.
Consent agenda: Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda by voice vote.
Next steps: Staff will record the easement documents and proceed with any administrative steps required to support electric service to the new water tower; the new BZA member will assume duties according to the established schedule for appointments.
