Board signs two‑year intergovernmental mutual aid agreement with VDEM

At the April 22 meeting King William County approved a two‑year intergovernmental agreement with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) Logistics Shop that will allow VDEM to serve as fiscal agent and coordinate requests for personnel, equipment and supplies outside the county’s traditional mutual‑aid channels.
Mr. Terry explained the agreement would streamline responses when local resources are insufficient and avoid having to sign discrete agreements for each incident. "This agreement would cover a 2 year period and would would cover every request for that 2 year period," Terry said, adding that localities and towns are being asked to sign the agreement separately.
Supervisors moved, seconded and approved the agreement. Staff said the towns (including West Point) would sign separately if they choose to participate.
