The commission approved a certificate of appropriateness Jan. 21 for construction of a two‑story multifamily structure on a vacant lot at 1253–1255 East Crockett in the Dignity Hill Historic District with conditions. Project designer Ricardo McCullough told commissioners the team had incorporated staff stipulations and would submit updated site plans and landscaping drawings.
Staff had recommended approval subject to stipulations: board‑and‑batten siding boards 12 inches wide and batten width of approximately 1½ inches; window materials and proportions matching adopted window policy; fenestration adjustments on the primary facade (add window to the right of the second‑floor balcony); screened mechanical equipment; and required foundation inspection. A voicemail from Lulu Francois, chair of the Dignity Hill Historic Neighborhood Review Committee, said the HNRC believed several conceptual stipulations were not yet met; the applicant responded that updated plans would be sent to staff first thing the next morning.
The commission moved to approve the application contingent on meeting staff stipulations and receiving the updated documents; roll call approved the motion.
