San Antonio City Council approves consent agenda, reappoints boards and highlights police substation and service programs

The San Antonio City Council voted to approve the consent agenda and used the consent highlights to introduce multiple reappointments and new appointees to city boards and commissions.
Council member McKeever highlighted reappointments to the Inner City Tours board including Mohammed Bridal, Juan Garcia, Alex Bridal and former District 2 Councilman Mario Salas, and introduced new appointees Valerie Ryford and Justin Munoz. Several council members recognized nominees to the Multimodal Transportation Commission, including Joey Pollock (appointed from Activate SA), William Long and Jim Bailey.
Council member Villagran highlighted item 11, a plan for a 26,000-square-foot, single-story police substation to be built on an 18-acre site near South Flora Street at Roosevelt Avenue and East Ashley Road. The project is intended to house patrol operations, the SAFE unit, the crisis response team and additional supervisory and civilian support personnel; construction was described as anticipated to start in fall 2025 and conclude by spring 2027. Council statements included projected staffing for the facility of 28 sworn supervisors and seven civilian support staff.
Other highlighted items included the continuation of a program lending mobile Wi-Fi hotspots from district libraries (to bridge the digital divide), appointments to multiple advisory committees, and a one-year extension of a tourism public improvement district (PID) that directs funds to Visit San Antonio; the PID extension was scheduled to return to council next year for longer-term renewal and review.
Council member Jageran moved to approve the consent agenda; a second was recorded and the council voted with the chair announcing the motion carried.
City Manager Eric presented an employee-spotlight video featuring Daniel Gonzales from Solid Waste Management who described work on illegal-dumping crews, daily call volumes of about 30–40 calls, and encouraged residents to use the city’s four bulky-drop off sites (open Tuesday–Saturday) with eligibility verified via a CPS bill or photo ID.
