He said the planning commission unanimously forwarded a favorable recommendation at its Dec. 17, 2025 meeting.
A council member asked whether existing nonconforming signs would be affected; Peter said preexisting nonconforming signs would be grandfathered, and the amendment would allow property owners to redesign signage after passage. Because zoning changes require additional public advertising under town code, the council announced the hearing will be held in full at the next meeting and cannot be acted on tonight.
No formal vote occurred. Next steps: staff will re-advertise the hearing per zoning requirements and bring the item back to council at the next meeting for public comment and potential action.
