During the discussion Chief Scott Freeman praised the work on the agreement, saying staff inserted updated language reflecting recent legislation on access to school records and video streaming, and reminding the council the agreement covers "over 3,000 souls between those 3 schools" (students, staff and teachers).
Councilmember moved and the council approved the agreement by voice vote; no dissent was recorded. The presentation and vote were framed as continuing the city's existing safety presence in schools while updating the document to reflect legislative and operational changes.
Next steps: the signed agreement will be implemented for the covered school years and administered by the police department in coordination with the school district.
