Town Council adopts Resolution 2026‑2 establishing water and sewer capacity yield for 2026–2027

The Mount Airy Town Council voted to adopt Resolution 2026‑2 to establish the town’s available water and sewer capacity yield from 2026 through 2027. Councilmember Mundo moved for approval and the motion passed by voice vote with one recorded dissent.

During discussion Council Member Demoter pressed staff on the transparency of the calculation method, noting town code 109‑19.2 requires the method to be published on the town’s webpage. "I always like to trust but verify," Demoter said, and asked where this year's calculation methodology and inputs were posted; a council staff response indicated the method was not on the website and that some input numbers (approved but not yet connected allocations) were missing from staff’s submittal. Demoter said, "I won't be supporting this resolution this evening," citing the lack of published methodology.

Council proceeded to a voice vote. The chair called for ayes, several council members responded "Aye" and the meeting recorded a single "Nay." The resolution will inform planning commission allocations and development decisions during the coming two‑year period.
