Walton Communities LLC requested that the commission postpone a rezoning application affecting roughly 11.68 acres at the Old 41 Highway and Barrett Parkway intersection. Staff told the commission it had received a letter from the applicant’s attorney asking to postpone to allow additional time for staff to review a submitted traffic impact study and to re-advertise an accompanying variance for a reduced parking ratio.
Kevin Moore, the applicant’s attorney, told the commission the traffic study requires staff review and that the variance on parking was not included in the originally advertised notice; he asked the commission to table the item to the March planning commission meeting. The commission opened the public comment period and received no speakers about the Walton item. Commissioner Trim moved to amend the agenda earlier in the meeting so the Walton representative could present; later the commission voted to table the Walton rezoning to the March 4, 2026 cycle as requested by counsel and recommended by staff.
