Kennesaw — Christopher Deemer told the City Council on Feb. 2 he and his wife Jessica seek a 6-to-12-foot sanitary sewer easement of about 130 feet through Fairfax Park to reach an existing county sewer manhole behind their house.
Deemer said his property, near Fairfax Park, has limited space to replace a failing septic system and that a creek and floodplain separate the proposed easement area from park amenities such as a playground and pavilion, making the route largely wooded and not used for recreation. He offered to comply with engineering, environmental and restoration requirements and to restore disturbed areas following construction; he also provided maps and images to staff.
Councilmember Drabney asked if Deemer had approached city staff; Deemer said he had spoken with county staff and Ricky Stewart. Drabney’s assistant collected contact information and staff agreed to follow up to evaluate the request and necessary approvals.
No decision was made at the meeting; staff indicated they will investigate permitting, environmental and engineering constraints and return to the Deemers with next steps.
