Kennesaw council OKs HGAC cooperative-purchasing agreement to speed procurement

Kennesaw — The City Council on Feb. 2 voted to authorize an interlocal agreement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) so the city can use HGAC cooperative purchasing for future acquisitions such as dispatch consoles, vehicles and related equipment.
Nikki (staff) explained that HGAC’s contracts enable multiple vendors to submit pricing through HGAC’s competitive processes, which can reduce administrative burden and accelerate purchases. She noted the agreement carries no cost until goods or services are procured and asked the council to approve a clerical correction to the fiscal year dates in Exhibit A before signing.
Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution unanimously (5-0). Nikki said the contract will help the city stay compliant with procurement rules while saving time and potentially securing favorable pricing.
