Kennesaw police report small drop in October calls, spike in fraud; sergeant recognized for recovering stolen business funds

Kennesaw’s police chief presented October 2025 statistics at the Dec. 1 council meeting showing a small overall decline in reported incidents and mixed shifts by offense type.
The chief reported total reported incidents decreased from 140 in October 2024 to 130 in October 2025; fraud offenses increased by 22 over the same period while simple assaults declined by 17. The chief also reported 79 arrests and said there were approximately 130 auto accidents in the reporting period, eight with injuries, and 12 hit‑and‑run incidents (one with injury) as well as one person struck by a vehicle with injury. Mayor (name not specified) and council accepted the crime statistics by unanimous vote.
Separately during opening recognitions, Allison Giddens, who identified herself as representing FinTech, thanked Sergeant Phillips for pursuing a case in which a company check stolen from the mail was recovered and the suspect identified. Giddens said Detective Phillips “proved every single one of them wrong” after others had told her the stolen funds were gone. Sergeant Phillips responded, "It's just nice to have one go right." The mayor also acknowledged the sergeant and welcomed him as a recent FTO graduate.
