Dental Board reappoints two Dental Assisting Council members and reports strong reserves

The board voted to reappoint Jessica Gerlach, RDA, to a four-year DAC term effective March 20, 2026, and Kara Miyazaki, RDA, to a four-year term effective March 1, 2026. Staff described the recruitment and assessment process for DAC positions, noting applications and interviews used by a subcommittee and staff recommendations. Both reappointments passed on recorded roll-call votes.
Wilbert Rumbaugh, administrative services unit manager, presented a budget update: the board's current appropriation is $20,400,000 and estimated expenditures for the fiscal year are about $18,600,000 (roughly $10.9 million personnel and $7.7 million operating). Based on that projection, the board expects to revert approximately $1,900,000 and maintain about 14.9 months of operating reserves. Executive Officer Bryce Dougherty emphasized the unusually healthy reserve level, saying the board "currently has almost 15 months of operating reserves." Rumbaugh also noted interest collected related to a prior general-fund loan.
